A dozen years ago, a Japanese manufacturer released an electric locomotive that had been produced during the war. The plastic injection-molded exterior had subtle irregularities that looked impressive. However, when they lined up two of the locomotives, I felt an indescribable sense of incongruity. The irregularities, which should have been random, were exactly the same.

It's true that MTL's weathering printing is an amazing technology. But try connecting two of the same products together. What do you think? You could easily change the car number. And you'll probably get better results if you add a little tinkering with the weathering as well.
